Back when I used to listen to my mommy and hopelessly believe in the existence of a supposedly Universal deity, diwali always was my favorite day of the year. There was so much to look forward to playing terrorist and bursting fire crackers, the lights and the positive vibes in the air although I have to admit the sound was almost always disturbing then I became asthmatic the days succeeding diwali used to be painful and spent in bed but that didn't stop me from disliking the day.
Then I grew up, I started to doubt the very existence of a celestial being I tried to find as many reasons to pan festivals as I could. I love animals especially canines Every year on this day, many animals suffer because of all the cruelty they are subjected to. Watching the trauma they face during and after the day is heartbreaking. Plus all of us unwillingly are promoting child labor by purchasing thousands of rupees worth of crackers made by little kids who are deprived of their fundamental right to education and life by Inhuman money minded individuals looking for an opportunity to make a quick buck. Plus there is the ever present guilt of haring the environment.
Festivals are supposed to be guilt free and a time for giving something back for the world but the whole purpose has been redefined and how. Then again who am I kidding there are always guys who won't listen to a 17 year old cause "I am too young" But for all those who are listening, stay safe and have a guilt free holiday Until next time, this is your everyday nerd saying Auf Wiedersehen guys.
P.S. I know this post does not make sense at times but the sound of those fire crackers startles me and I lose my concentration. Sorry. And yeah the girlfriend post is gonna come up soon until then, stay tuned =]
