Mind It!

Hate him or love him, you definitely cannot ignore him. He is India's answer to Chuck Norris, meet the original superstar the one and the only Sivaji Rao Gaekwad A.K.A Rajinikanth.
For a man with as humble a beginning as Mr. Rao, fame of this degree must have been possible only in his dreams. Born in a marathi brahmin family based in Bangalore Rajini rose from extreme poverty to being one of the highest payed actors in Asia often doing petty jobs as a child to make ends meet. He famously also served as a Bus conductor for the BTS before moving to Madras to join the south indian film fraternity. He started out doing negative roles with little or no recognition until his breakthrough role as Kali in the 1978 movie Mullum Malarum.
Thus started the birth of a superstar. Rajini's movies often consist of over the top plots with lots of masala and utter ridiculous fight scenes. Scenes which would make Chuck Norris question his own identity. But ironically, No one complains. Why? Because they worship the man as a deity and then Rajini movies are almost always entertaining. Exactly how entertaining? So much so that the man who acts only in tamil and a few other south Indian movies has a dedicated fan base in Japan too. However irrespective of the fact that he is possibly India's biggest star, Rajini also is a philanthropist and a mighty good one as well. He still drives around in his Fiat premier car.
Rajini is truly an inspiration to actors all over India. This is my tribute to the man who has made my movies fun.
Until next time in true Rajini style, I flip my spectacles and bid adieu :)
